Welcome - Site Launch
Posted on Saturday, March 05 @ 04:06:39 PST by lincomatic

Site News My previous site, Lincomatic's ITX Corner is basically dead, because I found the VIA M9000 Mini-ITX machine to be woefully inadequate for HTPC applications due to its underpowered CPU...

DiVX playback was using 100% CPU and was flaky, often running too slow or with out of sync audio, no matter how I optimized it. I had installed Windows Media Center Edition on the machine, and also found it to run too slowly. Even as an arcade emulator running MAME, it was inadequate, with many games running too slow. Therefore, I've given up on using the M9000 machine for anything but the most lightweight tasks. With the launch of the Apple Mac Mini and other competing small form factor systems, I've decided to loosen up my exclusive focus on the ITX platform, and launch this new site for news and information on the latest breed of Small Form Factor systems. I will not be abandoning ITX, especially since there are now P4-based ITX (too power hungry, IMHO), and Pentium-M-based ITX mobos (currently too expensive to be practical) being launched.
