SOFTWARE: DMP1Sync V0.02A Released!
Posted on Thursday, May 12 @ 16:55:12 PDT by lincomatic

OmniMedia OmniFi DMP1Sync now lets you navigate your songs via Folders! Also, it will now allow you to do In Place Sync... instead of forcing all your songs into the /usr/content directory w/ cryptic nnnnnnnn.TRM names, you can organize your songs any way you like on your hard drive...

New features in this version:

1) Navigation by Folders. A Folders item is added to the DMP1's main menu after the Genre item. The arrangement content under Folders mirrors the folder tree (i.e. directory arrangement) containing your songs that you sync from.

2) In Place Sync. You can copy your MP3's directly to your DMP1 drive in any arrangement you like. DMP1Sync will build an XML database for the DMP1 directly from the songs on the drive. This way, you can use the DMP1 drive with any other MP3 software, since the original filenames are preserved... no more /usr/content/nnnnnnnn.TRM files. Caveat: My preliminary testing has shown that performance is impacted. I would like to have people try it out and see if they see the same performance degradation that I am seeing.

Usage

Normal Sync - DMP1Sync mimics SimpleCenter and copies all songs to /usr/content/ automatically.

DMP1Sync musicdir targetdrive

e.g. "DMP1Sync c:/mp3 d:" will copy all the MP3's from c:/mp3 to the DMP1 drive which is mounted as drive d:

In-place Sync - DMP1Sync doesn't copy the music to the drive. First, copy your MP3's to the DMP1 drive, then DMP1Sync will build the proper indexes onto the drive for the DMP1 to use. Note: This feature is currently in Alpha testing, and has not been thoroughly tested...expect glitches. In my own testing, my DMP1 sometimes seems to freeze up, but then recovers after a long wait.

DMP1Sync targetdrive targetdrive

e.g. "DMP1Sync d: d: will perform a sync on drive d:, which already has MP3's on it.

For more detailed information on how to prep your drive, see the readme.txt file that's included in the download package. More info about DMP1Sync can be found in this article: SOFTWARE: DMP1Sync V0.01 - Public Alpha Test

Have you tried hooking up the wintv pvr card to DirectTV? If you plug the receiver into pvr you should be able to record. That would be a better comparison to the Tivo.
